Student Visa Information
A student visa application is required of all international students who wish to study in Australia (an exception may be for students offered a program, such as an English language course, of less than three months). The Department of Immigration and Border Protection website lists all of the Australian diplomatic missions worldwide where student visa applications can be submitted.
In order to study in Australia, international students often need to apply for and be granted a student visa. Students from some countries can enter Australia on a tourist visa and then apply for a student visa once they've settled in. Again, you may get all the info you need from the local Australian embassy or consulate.
It is only for full-time study that a student visa is granted. Part-time education is not an option for international students. All international students studying in Australia are required to show proof of financial support for their studies. After enrolling, students in Australia often have to wait until they've completed at least six full months of their primary course of study before transferring to another school.
